Built by pilots who got tired of bad software
We didn't set out to build a software company. We set out to fix a problem that every flying club member knows too well.
Our Story
It started with a whiteboard in a clubhouse and a shared frustration. We were a group of flying club members — pilots, instructors, and board members — who loved everything about general aviation except the software we were forced to use.
Our scheduling system was a shared Google Calendar that someone's kid had set up years ago. Billing meant our treasurer spending Sunday afternoons chasing down checks and reconciling a spreadsheet that no one fully understood. Training records lived in a three-ring binder that was always in the wrong airplane.
So we went looking for something better. We tried every platform on the market. Some could handle scheduling but couldn't do billing. Others had billing but no training tools. A few had decent features but looked like they were designed in 2005 and hadn't been updated since.
And not a single one of them understood the most important thing about a flying club: it's a community.
Where was the social feed where members could share photos from their weekend flights? Where was the forum for discussing club business? Where was the events page for organizing the Saturday morning fly-in breakfast? These platforms treated our club like it was nothing more than a booking calendar — and that felt wrong.
We wanted software that was as modern as the avionics in our cockpits. Software that understood that a flying club is held together by shared experiences, not just shared aircraft. Software that was fair — no contracts, no setup fees, no modules to unlock.
So we built it ourselves.
Airmates is the platform we wished existed when we were running our own clubs. It's scheduling, billing, training, fleet management, documents, and community — all in one place. It's modern, beautiful, and built on the latest technology. And it's priced fairly, because we remember what it felt like to be nickel-and-dimed for basic features.
We still fly with the same tools you do. We're club members first and software builders second. And every feature we add starts with the same question: “Would this make our own club better?”
